The likes of the bright line test, ring fencing Bill and Healthy Homes Standards will have some investors scratching their heads and wondering if it’s all worth it. And yes, some may decide to pull out of property investment. So, what will the landscape look like in a few years’ time for those that stick it out? Well firstly, the overall quality of the rental housing stock will be better and that must be a good thing. There will be fewer rental properties available for around about the same number of tenants. That’s a really good thing for the landlords still in the market because they will have more choice and rents will be higher. Oh, and one further thing. We may have a different Government as well, so depending on your political persuasion that will either be a good thing or not. As we have said before and to quote Warren Buffet – “be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful”.
Doom and gloom, it’s not all bad National Propertyscouts
